BDO DR Or Evasion? Which One Should You Choose?

Introduction

Today we will dive into one of the most important questions on the Black desert online game, which one to use? DR or evasion? Today we will look at the general answer to this question based on the stats and the classes. Accordingly, you can make up your mind on which one to use.

DR vs Evasion Classes

So one which to choose, DR or Evasion?

Well it depends on your class, so lets go through them, we’ve separated them into three categories. These are DR, Evasion, and DR or Evasion classes.

DR classes – Warrior, Ranger, Berserker, Valkyrie, Dark knight, Archer, Guardian, Nova, Drakania, and Tamer.

Evasion classes – Striker, Mystic, Hashashin, and Shai.

Both DR or Evasion classes – Sorceress, Musa, Maehwa, Wizard, Witch, Ninja, Kunoichi, Lahn, Sage, and Corsair.

DR is considered a safe and smart choice. Meanwhile, evasion has its exception, and the last class, which includes both, depends on your play style.

With the Lebreska helmet and artifacts, the evasion build got way stronger than before. I will go with the evasion if you are an evasion class and DR if you are a DR class. If you think you can avoid getting caught in PvP, by all means, go full AP. But evasion is usually better for classes whose playstyle is to dodge and evade enemy attacks, and DR is better if you prefer to play more aggressively.

If you are a DR or Evasion category class, I would first think about your other tagged character, so let’s say your tagged character is a DR class, then I would choose to go DR on both. If you are playing a class in both DR and Evasion categories, I will choose DR if you are mainly a PvE player and Evasion if you are mainly PvP. DR is more versatile since it works for more classes in case you want to reroll in the future.

What Makes a Class a Certain Category? (DR or Evasion)

With evasion, the more you have, the greater it becomes. All classes, by default, are DR classes. All classes with DR give more damage but less survivability.

The DR classes might have a self-buff but do not work as well as evasion regarding survivability stacking.

To make evasion shine, you will need evasion passives or evasion self buffs. Or very high base evasion stats.

Example #1

One simple example is this if you have zero percent evasion, you will take the full blow of the hit, but if you have one percent evasion, you will reduce the damage by one percent. But let’s say you have 98 percent evasion, and you get one percent evasion.

You still reduce the damage by one percent but effectively halved the damage taken because you are taking from two percent damage to one percent.

That is why classes with evasion have some bonus stats like really high base evasion or self-buff with the percentage of evasion or passive with the percentage of evasion buffs. All this will give a better survivability value to the character.

Playstyle Choices

When a certain class can be built on both evasion and DR, this will be a different story. These are the classes that benefit greatly from either build. For example, let us take sorceress.

The sorceress has some of the best evasion percentages, passive and boss in the game. That is why it can become one of the tankiest classes in the game. Whether you build it with DR or evasion depends on what your class wants and what kind of content you do and value overall.

Example #2

One example is if you are doing sieges/node wars 100 vs 100, the addition of survivability is mostly negated when more people are hitting you.

Let’s say you gain 10% survivability, then the one guy hitting you need to hit 10% additional damage harder to kill you. If you are fighting 10 guys, then the 10% survivability is divided among the people hitting you. However, with damage increases, you get multiplied.

Let’s say you have 10 damage, and you hit one guy, you will make 10 damage on that particular guy, but if the same hit was directed to 10 guys, then you just dealt 100 more damage.

So, your damage gets multiplied, and your survivability gets divided. If you are doing small skirmishes, survivability becomes more powerful.

Class Example

  • Sorceress – If your job is to go in and disrupt the enemy, you go into the group and start throwing some CC so that the enemy will be focused on you, but you still do good damage. If you build more tanky, you can easily survive even when caught using survivability.
  • Ninja/kunoichi – These are assassin-like classes that can go in and blow everything up and get out or focus on the 1 vs. 1 fight. Most of the time, they will not get caught, but if you do, then with this survivability combo, you can easily survive the damage.

Advantages and Disadvantages

We will go through the advantages and disadvantages of building DR cannon damage or evasion tanky. The in-game DR build and in-game evasion build are similar. You get a lot of AP with that maneuver, and DR build, but you will not need too much as you go above 309.

You will start switching accessories, build, and everything for more DR or accuracy. The difference between going DR and evasion in-game is they are very closely balanced builds, but the DR build will sacrifice AP for more survivability with knacks and things like that meanwhile, the evasion build will be running kutum, distort, and other related.

So as you can see, the total stats are very close. However, the biggest difference between these two is the route you can take. One unseen advantage of the CR build is the off-hand.

The Route

In the DR build, you can sacrifice survivability for more damage; in evasion, you can sacrifice damage for more survivability. In a DR build, you might be running narq in a balanced build, but you have the options to put on distos, dawns, and trade your AP for lunar necklace accuracy.

You can trade off AP in evasion build and throw in a centaur build or Sicil necklace. Things like this will make you tankier. Offhand in DR build is also very good as you have more accuracy in a balanced build after 309 as you replace AP with more accuracy. The difference between the maneuver build and kutum build with the off-hand is 13 AP with 309 stat for both builds.

Still, when you put accuracy off-hand, the ap difference between accuracy offhand and maneuver is way bigger than the AP difference between a kutum and the accuracy off-hand. So the accessories you add with these stats will make it much easier to play these classes.

Conclusion

It might not look easy but follow the steps, and you can easily choose which is better for you based on your classes. Both evasion and DR have their advantages and disadvantages, so choose wisely.
