Black Desert Mobile Accessories Guide

Let’s talk about accessories. In particular, let’s compare the different tiers of accessories in order to develop an effective strategy for early gameplay.

Buying and Selling Accessories

In Black Desert Mobile, there are four tiers of accessories. The tier of the accessories is indicated by its color. The colors being blue, purple, yellow, and orange. Blue is the least rare, followed by purple, followed by yellow, and orange is the rarest.

Accessories can be obtained from questing or it can be bought in the store. As you can expect, blue accessories are easiest to acquire from questing. The price in the store is determined by what other people are willing to pay for items, which means that the price fluctuates based on a number of economic factors, but also, as you can expect, blue accessories are the least expensive.

Upgrading Accessories

Jewelry can be upgraded when you have a duplicate item, that is, an identical piece of the same type and rarity. Because higher rarity pieces are harder to come by, this can make upgrading difficult and expensive.

If you are unsure whether or not you are able to upgrade a piece, you can click on Black Spirit –> Enhancement and look at the jewelry icons that pop up on the right side of the screen. If an exclamation mark rests on any of the icons, this means that you have another piece of similar type that you can use to upgrade the accessory. You can click on the accessory icon to see how many copies of that item you have.

Likewise, when looking at the quest interface and choosing your rewards, an exclamation mark will rest upon any reward jewelry that you are currently wearing. Presuming you are wearing the pieces you wish to upgrade, this is helpful to pay attention to so you don’t accidentally buy something that you could have gotten for free. Save those pearls.

Because of this, it is not uncommon for players to create several characters, complete the same quests, select the same rewards, and then compile the duplicate items with their main character, in order to upgrade pieces without spending black pearls.

Accessory resonance is calculated by taking the lowest level of all of your jewelry. For example, let’s say that all your jewelry is at least level eight, you would get the sixth resonance, which works out to +8 attack, +8 defence, and +6% to all branch damage. It’s important to note that this calculation does not take into consideration the colour of your jewelry. It is also important to note that when you fail this will go back down to +0 unless you pay the price of repair. As you can expect, the higher the level of jewelry and therefore, accessory resonance, the more expensive it is to repair.

Which Accessory Should You Use

Because there are so many options when it comes to accessories, it might be hard to decide what to focus on. Let’s compare the value of different tiers of accessories so that you can better see where to put your energy. There are four major factors to consider when determining which accessories to pursue: stats, resonance, cost, and difficulty of acquiring.

Blue tier accessories

Blue accessories are the easiest to obtain from questing and also the least expensive in the store. When comparing stats, a +8 set of blue accessories is roughly the equivalent of a +4 purple set. This being said, a +8 set of blue accessories costs roughly the same as a +0 set of purple accessories.

It costs significantly more to get equivalent stats in a purple set than it does in a blue set. This means that it is much more cost-effective to work on getting a set of +8 blue accessories than it is to focus on getting a +4 purple set because they have equivalent stats and the +4 purple set costs you a lot more.

A full set of +8 blue accessories is something that can be managed in the first week of gameplay given the abundance of blue jewelry given inquests and the relatively low price for blue accessories in the store.

Purple tier accessories

Purple jewelry is stronger than blue jewelry. However, as you begin to upgrade them, you’re going to discover that the cost is significantly greater. The cost is so high, that it likely will not be worth it.

As a side note, you may consider selling the purple jewelry you do have, because the market has deemed them worth so much, and the cost of upgrading them is, as we have already established, way too high for what you’re getting in return.

Yellow tier accessories

Yellow accessories are stronger than purple accessories. A +6 set of purple jewelry works out to roughly a +0 set of yellow jewelry. These pieces are so expensive, that a beginner player will likely not be able to afford them early game. Couple this with the fact that you’re going to need duplicates of the pieces in order to upgrade them and yellow accessories seem out of the question early game.

Orange tier accessories

Orange tier accessories are only worth it at end-game.

Conclusion

Having analyzed the costs and benefits of each tier of accessories an efficient gameplay strategy takes form.

Early game, pursuing a +8 set of blue accessories gives you the most bang for your buck because it is easier and less expensive to obtain, and offers stats equivalent to a +4 purple set.

The purple accessories do not offer enough of a stat difference to justify the cost difference. The abundance of blue jewellery available from questing makes it much less expensive to put together a full set of upgraded blues than it is to put together a full set of upgraded purples. You can save up those precious black pearls for other purchases (another pet perhaps?)

Accessory Progression

Some of you may be considering pushing above +8 early game. This is not advisable because, as discussed above, when you fail, your accessory resonance is going to go back to zero and you’re going to have to pay to bring it back up. Between +0 and +8 the price is fairly reasonable, but when you begin pushing passed +8 it gets really expensive, really quickly. Because of this, it might be in your best interest to stop at +8, at least early in the game.

Mid game, the purple accessories are still not worth it. Yellow tier accessories are superior in stats and can be upgraded later on, pushing you forward in the game in the way that purple accessories cannot. Once you’ve managed to get a full set of +8 blue tier accessories, skip the purple tier all together and pursue yellow accessories.
