Introduction
Owned and managed by the master goldsmith Godbert Manderville, The Gold Saucer is an amusement park in Southern Thanalan. This is the arcade mode of Final Fantasy XIV, where the players can participate in various minigames such as Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. By participating in the minigames, players can earn the Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGPs), exchanged for specific rewards.
To access the Gold Saucer, you must reach level 15 and have completed either of the three Main Scenario Quests: The Gridanian Envoy, The Ul’dahn Envoy, or The Lominsan Envoy. Once you have these requirements, take the quest called “It Could Happen to You,” where the player will talk to Well-heeled Youth, a Hyur found in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald.
As mentioned, you can trade your MGPs for specific rewards, including minions, weapons, armor, and mounts. You can buy the Gold Saucer mounts by finding the Gold Saucer Attendant (X: 5.1, Y: 6.6). All of the Gold Saucer mounts that will be mentioned here are sold for a HUGE chunk of MGPs, so players are advised to participate in the Make It Rain event, where they can earn a lot of MGPs.
Adamantoise
The adamantoise is a flight-capable terrestrial mount native to the Near Eastern island of Thavnair. Initially thought to be completely wild, these colossal scalekins have been domesticated, thanks to the efforts of Ul’dahn zoologists and thaumaturges. They are trained to accept riders and weird ancient magic tricks, allowing them to fly. The adamantoise has a peculiar way of flying: it hides its head and limbs into its shell, then flies by spinning endlessly.
The adamantoise can be summoned with a special whistle made of a thick turtle shell. It emits a low-pitched voice.
You can purchase the adamantoise (and its whistle) from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 200,000 MGP.
Typhon
He was summoned through an experiment made by the Thaumaturge Guild, and has his share of ups and downs before being employed at the Gold Saucer. As scary as it seems to be, this pink chunk of horror is surprisingly quiet and reserved, as some close acquaintances describe it (some even describe it as a friendly monster). Its main movement is flying.
The typhon can be summoned by its specialized horn, a sneeze-like blare.
You can purchase the typhon (and its horn) from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 750,000 MGP.
Korpokkur Kolossus
According to the in-game description, this korpokkur had a long journey by trekking across the scorching Sagolii before finding its home at the Gold Saucer. This had caused the cute overgrown orb to become a withered plant. However, the kolossus can be recharged by staying hydrated.
Its movement is mainly terrestrial. However, it also has an ability to fly. It can be summoned by its horn that emits a harrowing drone.
You can purchase the kolossus (and its horn) from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 750,000 MGP.
Archon Throne
According to the former residents of Sharlayan, this magic chair is furnished by a bibliophile from the Great Gubal Library who got tired of reaching the uppermost shelves. Despite this confirmation, some still claimed that it was once the chair of Archon Louisoix Leveilleur. This mount, although made from an inanimate object, is flight-capable.
You can purchase the mount from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 750,000 MGP.
Fenrir
According to the in-game description, a monstrous wolf from the Norse mythology, this mount is a hoarhound that is once abundant in the Coerthas highlands following the rise of Ishgard. However, because of the shift in climate caused by the Calamity, they began to descend from the mountains.
The Fenrir has one of the most gorgeous aesthetics among the mounts. While its movement is terrestrial, the Fenrir can fly, showcasing its feet’ ice or frost particles.
It can be summoned by using the Fenrir horn, obtained from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 1,000,000 MGP.
Sabotender Emperador
Arguably the most expensive and yet the most popular of all the Gold Saucer mounts, it’s no wonder why the Manderville Gold Saucer revolves around this sabotender. According to the in-game description, no one knows exactly why this mount is the official mascot of the said place, or even the fact that the Gold Saucer was built to resemble it, even though more than half of its drinks have sabotender-themed “cact-tails”. One thing’s for sure: this mount can bring some bright sense of humor and joy to any path that it comes across.
The sabotender can walk, but it often hops with only one foot when it runs. It flies by activating the kitty-like balloons on its arms. It even glows in the dark. Players often stand on the right shoulder of this mount.
You can summon the sabotender using a specialized horn, which emits a thunderous toot. It can be obtained from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 2,000,000 MGP.
