Gusion is an Assassin, and his job is to kill enemies’ backline (their ADC or mage). He’s not an easy hero to play, but if used correctly can bring along essential advantages.

Passive & Skills
Passive – each time Gusion casts a kill, a rune is added to Gusion’s dagger. After staking three runes, the next Basic Attack will deal extra damage equal to 15% of the target’s lost HP and restore HP equal to 80% of the damage dealt. After casting his skills three times, his next basic attack will deal damage based on 15% of enemy’s lost hp.
This basic attack also restores HP equal to 80% of damage dealt by that basic attack. This passive is most effective on low HP targets, but it works on Jungle monsters and Minions too. When his passive is available to use, his dagger will start glowing.
Skill 1: Sword Spike
Skill 1: Sword Spike – This skill is composed of two phases. First, Gusion throws a dagger in the targeted direction, dealing 200 (+50% Total Magic Power) points of Magic Damage to the first target hit. Then, you can use it to move behind the target and deal 200 (+100% Total Magic Power) points of Magic Damage to them. However, this skill has a range limit, so if the enemy goes too far away, you won’t be able to use the second phase.
Skill 2: Shadowblade Slaughter
Skill 2: Shadowblade Slaughter – Gusion throws five daggers forward. Each dagger deals 110 points of Magic damage (+50% of total magic power) and slows down the targets for 2 secs. You can tap skill two again to return the daggers to Gusion, and they will deal 65 more points of magic damage to enemies along the way (+40% total magic power). So stay near enemies while casting and returning the daggers to deal more damage.
Skill 3: Incandescence
Skill 3: Incandescence – After Shadowblade Slaughter is being reset, Gusion will be able to immediately throw five daggers, and recall ten daggers if the skill is used again. His Ultimate has two dashes. It also resets the Cooldown of his Skill 1 and Skill2 immediately. You can throw 5+5 daggers using ultimate and recall ten daggers.
This is all for his passive and skills.
Battle Spells
Always use Retribution on Gusion to help him farm faster.
Emblem Set
Custom mage emblem is the best for Gusion. Spend talent points on MVMNT, SPD, and MAG, PEN on the first and second row. Use Mystery shop talent: it will allow you to purchase items faster.
Use Common Mage emblem if your custom mage is below level 20. Spend talent points on Mana and Mag. Penetration. Use Magic power surge – it will increase your magic power after using a skill.
Item Build
This is the recommended build for Gusion:
Arcane Boots Calamity Reaper Concentrated EnergyHoly Crystal Winter Truncheon Divide Glaive
This build has High damage and Good Survivability, but it lacks CD Reduction. You can also add Magic Shoes to this build is you feel like you need more Cooldown Reduction.
Arcane Boots Calamity Reaper Concentrated Energy Holy CrystalDivine Glaive Fleeting Time
This build has no defense but has High damage and Cooldown Reduction. With fleeting time, your ultimate will reset almost instantly if you get kills during team fights.
Arcane Boots Calamity Reaper Concentrated Energy Necklace of Durance Holy Crystal Winter Truncheon
Use this build to counter Lifestealers.
Skill Combos
1)
Skill 1 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 2 > 1 > 2 > 1 > Basic Attack
This is his basic combo. This is the combo you should use more often while playing, so try to master it first thing. If you miss your skill1 after using ulting, this whole combo becomes useless, so be careful when aiming skill 1.
2) skill 1 > 2 > 1 > 2 > Basic Attack > 3 > 2 > 1 > 1 > 2 > Basic Attack
This combo has two stages. It will be useful against heroes with escaping skills.
3) skill 1 > 1 > 2 > 2 (use ulti right after using skill2) > 3 > 2 > 1 > 2 > 1 > Basic Attack
This is more of a surprise combo. You can start practicing it once you’re comfortable with the basic combos.
Tips and Tricks
Sword Spike > Shadowblade Slaughter (when the dagger is close to the target)
OR
Shadowblade Slaughter > Sword Spike (when Gusion is close to the target)
Before landing all dagger on the enemy, you should know which skill to use first. This will make your combo look smooth. When the daggers are closer to the target than Gusion, you should always use skill1 before skill2. But when Gusion is closer to the target than the daggers, use skill2 and then skill1. Keep reminding yourself of this if you’re new to using Gusion. After a while, you’ll be able to do it naturally, but it takes practice.
Skill Upgrade Priority
Skill 1 – Max Last
Skill 2 – Unlock and max first
Ultimate – upgrade whenever available
At level 1, unlock skill2 and buy Hunters Knife and then upgrade to Pillager Axe. It will be used in the early game. Always take Midlane while using Gusion. Try to clear the minion wave as fast as possible, then take the Blue buff after taking buff to take, Lithowanderer. You can also take Lithowanderer first and then move on to Blue Buff. Then clear the Mid Lane one more time. At this point, you will be almost level 4 if your tank had a Roam item. Roam to any one of the side lanes and force a gank – even if you didn’t have a successful gank. Make them retreat and secure the crab. If you do this rotation correctly, you will be able to farm up faster in the early game.
Aiming, Gusion’s skill1 is essential. It will easily miss if you tap, it’s almost like Franco’s Hook. While fighting a tank, maximize your passive to kill them faster. Don’t spam all your skills as soon as you see a Hero. Most of the time, a 1-2 Basic Attack combo is enough to kill a MM/Mage.
Be careful in team fights if the enemy team has counters like Khufra, Franco, or Chou. Go in after their skills are in CD; if their damage dealers are out positioned, you can quickly kill them.
