Black Desert Online is a massive online multiplayer game, and a staple of games such as it is PVP. It’s understandable that some players don’t want to have to worry about getting killed by random strangers, so this guide aims to tell you just how you can turn PVP off, and how you can tell when it’s on for future characters, as well as some rules and useful tricks to know about PVP.
How To Toggle PvP
While there is one rule we will go over later, how you toggle PVP off is simple. While in the game you need to hold down the alt key on your keyboard, and while it’s held down you also just need to press the ‘C’ key.
A message will appear on your screen displaying whether you have turned it on or off, and there is no cooldown out of combat so you can click the button as many times as you want, it will still flip between on and off and is the most efficient way to quickly turn off the game mechanic. There are two different ways to toggle PVP mode, this first one is the quickest one.
You can also allow a visual representation of whether or not you have turned PVP off. If you open your menu in-game, got through the list on the screen until you find the edit UI button. Once found, open the menu and it will allow you to play around with how your bars and maps are set up.
Located towards the bottom center of the screen you’ll see a small black box that says PVP on or off. You may drag and place it wherever is best, To get it to display the in-game, you need to press the eye icon you see in the box when the box turns white, it will not be displayed all the time. To tell whether PVP is on or off by the icon, the sword and shield icon will have fire around it and have a red color to indicate it is on, or it will be grey and lack any flames around it to signify it is toggled off.
Level 50 For PvP
The first rule to note about turning off PVP is that you have to be level 50 to disable and enable it. The icon showing whether or not PVP is turned on or off may need to be enabled again every time you log onto Black Desert Online. This being said, it is worth noting that it is not the best way to turn off PVP.
There is a cooldown timer on the icon when clicking it, causing a delay when trying to toggle PVP, whereas if you use the first method listed by using alt and ‘C’ you can quickly enable or disable PVP. If you do want the icon though, you’ll simply have to go back into edit UI and drag it back to where you had it, and of course press the eye inside the box again.
Hopefully, this guide will help you survive out in the Desert!
