Introduction
This text is going to explain the exact method I use to enhance my accessories. This task is my moneymaker, which means I use it to obtain profit and rewards inside the game.
Enhancing gear is vital in BDO. These are two key factors that will affect your damage and your defense. To be able to improve equipment, it is required either a Blackstone for armor or a Blackstone for a weapon. You can buy both of them from the Auction House, craft them using a refinery, or farmed as they are a rare drop from some monsters. Tips or essential things before I start:
How To Enhance and Enhancing Tips
You get a +1 success stack after failing an enhancement, this is called a failstack. This means you will have more chances of enhancing the next time. Those are consumed after you are successful in increasing one item. Cheaper equipment can be used to get fail stacks. Fail stacks are NOT shared for your different characters. If you need to enhance and item but don’t want to use your fail stacks, I recommend you to use an alternative character to build failstacks.
To be able to enhance any piece of equipment, you need to summon your Black Spirit and then click on ”Enhancement”. After, you right-click the specific gear and the required Blackstone, then click ”Enhance”. It is also possible to click the Blackstone in your inventory to open up the Enhancement window.
For accessories, you need to use a duplicate accessory in order to enhance it. Be careful, if it fails it gets destroyed.
To be able to disenchant any piece of your equipment, you need to get to a Blacksmith and click ”Extraction”. Right after ”Blackstone Extraction”. Use right-click in the specific piece of gear that you want to disenchant, and then click ”Extract”. This process will destroy the piece of equipment, but you will get back some black stones. If you disenchant an item that has not gone past, it’s safe to enhance. You will always get back all the black stones. After that, the amount of them you get back is just RNG.
Durability
Whenever you fail to enhance any item, its max durability will be decreased. Anyway, It is essential to explain that you can’t actually lose your weapon by enhancing it. When your maximum durability reaches zero, the weapon will become unusable until you max repair it again. To fix it to max durability again, it is necessary to have the same item.
Once you have it, go to a Blacksmith and click ”Repair” and right after ”Maximum Durability Recovery”. Put that specific item in the ”Recovery Target Equipment” slot and the other item you want to forfeit inside the ”Materials” one. Click ”Recover Max Durability,” and that’s gonna also increase the maximum durability by 10 points.
There’s plenty of methods in the game, and I can’t guarantee this is the best one for success, but I can firmly say it has worked for me. So far, I’ve done over a thousand enhancements and making it profitable. This is because some people buy outfits to melt them for different stones and have a more relaxed way of spending real money.
I won’t be giving specifics for blue accessories in this guide because I feel like yellow accessories are so affordable right now that there is no point in going through blue ones. The fastest way to get yellow accessories is through grinding bosses with this specific loot.
Failstacking Method
These are the 2 methods I use for failstacking. So let’s say you want a to-do a TRI attempt for a yellow accessory. You would want around 40 stacks for this.
Here’s how I would get 40 stacks:
Basically first use Militia weapons/reblath that is +14 until 22 fail stacks. After that, get a green armor that is pri and click enhance on it 3 times until you get 31 failstacks. After that, I would finally get multiple DUO green armors and fail it 3-4 times. Now you should have a 40-43 failstack, which can be used to enhance a TRI yellow. So hopefully this helped you understand how to use the chart below:
Failstacks For PRI:
I never attempt enhancing pri unless I have a high enough fail stack to enhance it. I use a +18 fail stack for pri attempts. Anything past +18 for pri gives diminishing returns.
After 18 fail stacks, the success chance is increased only by 0,5 per unit instead of 2,5(This is called a soft cap). Which means we are using the more fail stack for a smaller increase, instead of just stacking another 18 before the diminishing starts. It is vital to begin enhancing at or below the soft cap, never after it.
Failstacks For DUO:
Before attempting to enhance duo, I built a fail stack of +34 to +40 for the necessary attempts. +40 is the soft cap, and anything past that gives diminishing returns. The reason I sometimes stop at +34 is mainly depending on the value of the boss accessory.
Some items are not worth to be done with a +40 stack since they are cheaper, so my rule is that if an accessory is less expensive than 10 million for its base, I generally will use a +34 fail stack for it. If it’s more than ten million, I will use something closer to the +40 stack. Until 40 stacks, you get a 1 % increase per quantity, but once you pass 40, the increase will be reduced to 0,50 per unit. As explained before, that is diminishing returns.
Failstack For TRI:
Before attempting to enhance tri, I recommend a fail stack of +40 to +44. Similar to duos, I use the lower stack for cheaper yellow accessories, and the higher stack is for expensive accessories.
I go by the same rule, if it’s base is below 10 million I use the lower stack, but if it’s more, I use the higher stack. Our soft cap for enhancing tri is 44. In this case, we have an increase of 0,75% per unit that decreases to 0,15% once we go above 44. As stated before, this is a diminishing return.
Failstack For TET:
I use a +98 fail stack for tet attempts, although the soft cap is +110. From my experience, I never lost money from clicking at +98 fail stack on tet attempts, so I don’t see the need to push the stacks any higher. From a +98 stack to the soft cap at +110, you get only a 3% increased bonus, which isn’t the most significant difference. Anything more than +110 will give you diminishing returns.
Failstack For PEN:
Pen attempts are something I have never attempted. To achieve a high enough stack to click pen is something I am not confident enough to do. The high risk makes it something I can not bring myself to do. In my opinion, it is just not worth it, and you’re probably gonna be better off buying the pen gear from the market.
If you are going to attempt PEN use 150+ stack. Use as high stack as possible.
This is pretty much the only time I’ll argue that buying specific equipment from the market is worth it, since everything else from tet, tri, duo, and pri are all super simple to make as long as you follow my guide. I hope you enjoyed reading and learned something about enhancing in BDO.
