Black Desert How To Get Tier 5 Pet Guide

Hey guys, in this Black Desert Online guide, we’ll discuss how to get a tier 5 pet. Depending on your interest, pets can be a great part of the gameplay, and tier 5 pets are exceptionally helpful.

Throughout this overview, we’ll be going over everything you need to know, including how to pick up the quest, what materials you’ll need and how to get them, how tier 5 pets function, and which pet you should upgrade to tier 5.

First, we need to touch on the basics of tier 5 pets.

Basics Of Tier 5 Pets

Technically speaking, you only really need one tier 5 pet. This is because you can’t have multiple tier 5 pets out.

Not only that, but even if you did decide to get multiple tier 5 pets, you could only use the “Alpha” function for one of them at a time.

This means that you’ll have every other pet as a pseudo tier 5 since they can’t enjoy all the benefits unless you declare them as an alpha.

So, now that we’ve cleared that point up let’s pick them up.

What Materials You’ll Need To Upgrade Your Pet

To get started upgrading your pet, you’ll need to get the following items:

  • 40x Magical Shards
  • 10x Growth Reagents
  • 800x Fine Lightweight Plumes

Magical Shards

To get the Magical Shards, you’ll want to melt down Black Magic Crystals(BMC) crystals which are fairly simple to get through grinding many spots in Valencia. After you’ve collected the crystals, the melting-down process requires you to put them into your inventory before going to “Heating”.

This process will get you a magical shard. From there, repeat the process 39 more times until you have at least 40 magical shards.

Growth Reagents

Also fairly straightforward, you can get these by going to a Old Moon Manager. The only downside is that they’re more of a money sink than anything.

Each cost 60M, and you need 10(600 million), so make sure you’ve done some grinding beforehand if you want this to be as quick and seamless as possible.

Fine Lightweight Plumes

There are a few ways to get the plumes. One of the quickest ways is to pre-order them off the marketplace. They’re pretty cheap at 48k per plume. It will certainly rack up by the end (38,400,000), so you’ll also want to factor in that cost.

You can also go farming for them by going to Old Wisdom Tree and hunting down some Ferrina and Ferrica. You’ll need a tanning knife for the feathers and spend a fair amount of time grinding them. Ultimately, if you’ve got the money, ordering them is easier.

Once you’ve done all of that, and have all the necessary ingredients, perform Simple Alchemy, and you should have a Royal Plume

Picking Up Quests

The first thing you want to do is pick up the quest from your Black Spirit. The quest is entitled Pet Domesticated Squabbles. You’ll be tasked with killing Griffon summons. This should be pretty easy, as they aren’t all that strong. Once you’ve completed the quest, return to Obi-Bellen. This will result in you gaining the Tier 5 Pet Training option.

From there, you’ll click on it, including your pet, add the Royal Plume, and they will be advanced to tier 5. Congratulations!

Activating Your Pet

Now that you’ve got your tier 5 pet, you need to activate them. As I mentioned earlier, simply having your tier 5 pet in your group isn’t going to activate it automatically. You’ll need to designate them as your “alpha”. Remember that you can only have one alpha pet, so make sure it’s your tier 5.

The process for designating them is fairly simple. You’ll need to find them in your grouping and click on the crown button. This sets them as your alpha immediately.

Once done, you’ll fully activate all the tier 5 features your pet will have. This will not only mean improved pet traits but also result in a reduced loot cooldown of 15%, making getting certain items much faster and easier.

Now that we’ve gone over all the important factors let’s go over which is the best pet to use and upgrade to tier 5.

Picking The Right Pet

Alright, so the first thing you need to know when determining the best pet to upgrade is that pets aren’t going to have anything added to their special abilities. This means that you won’t get any bonuses to anything dealing with auto-fishing, item gathering, or anything in that vein.

A great example is the Artic Fox, which has an increased item drop rate. At tier 4, its drop rate increase is 4%, while at tier 5, it goes up to 5%. If you aren’t a fan of the drop rate, you’ll want to consider raising another pet. Instead, you want to check out the specific pet traits to determine which pet is ideal.

Ultimately, when it comes to tier 5 pets, so long as you’re not expecting anything too grandiose, they can be very valuable for what they offer. You want to go over the different available pets and see which ones you like the most and which pet trait you’re most interested in maximizing.

Conclusion

And with that, there you have it. A complete step-by-step process for getting all the materials, completing the quest, and transforming and activating your tier 5 pet.

Which pet are you most interested in turning tier 5?
