When playing Lost Ark, there will several classes that you’ll have the option to choose. Some are easier while others are much harder to shine and perform well in.

Each class will involve different skills and knowledge of the game and so it will be helpful to ensure you have a good understanding of how to play Lost Ark, especially when you play in one of the harder classes.

To make the most out of your game, the class you choose and the success you can have in it can make a difference.

Easiest Classes

Berserker

Berserker is one class within the Warrior profession. It’s much easier to survive with this one than with other ones. While classes in Warrior tend to be slower when it comes to aspects of play such as attack and speed because of being heavy, this can help them better when it comes to surviving.

Berserker is a little faster than other classes in Warrior. You’ll have a fun time playing as they generally perform well across all the game’s different aspects and playing options.

There are a few great skills involved with this class that you can use, such as spinning charge and a gauge that you can build through attacks and allow your Berserker to become stronger. Power and speed improve with this innate skill. It’s the easiest class within the game and much less difficult when compared to others to get the hang of.

Awakening skills are easy to use and come in handy. When playing PvP, Berserker is one of the top 10 best classes available in the Warrior profession.

All you have to do is press a single button and your Berserker charges and attacks, enabling you to cause a lot of harm to your opponents.

Another awakening skill allows you to charge and move around simultaneously, lasts longer, is powerful, and is fairly easy to activate. When in beginner mode, this Berserker’s skill will be beneficial.

Destroyer

The Destroyer class is also one that’s within the Warrior profession. Its advantage is that while it’s heavy and slow, it has a strong defensive side. However, it’s also a little slower than the Berserker, making this class slightly more difficult to control and play. Thi

More shielding is available here than with Berserker which is one of two ways to improve your ability for survival when playing Lost Ark and will keep the Destroyer safe. 

Destroyer’s skills are easy to action, such as blue skills which they can use to build upon their purple skills and make them stronger. In PVP mode, they rank at the top of their class in the game. This makes them a very popular option for players to choose. 

It’s a great option for beginners as it’s easy to play and you won’t make many mistakes. The destruction skill allows you to obtain a good level of success when playing this class in Lost Ark.

Just like with Berserker, Destroyer can benefit from innate skills such as a gauge to increase power. In PvP, you have one particular skill that can come in useful where you’ll have a hammer to use against your opponents and make them come to a stop, which will make it easier to attack them.

Hardest Classes

Supportive classes are harder in general as the moves require faster and more difficult button play, lots of combat fighting tactics to remember, and PvP position is needed to succeed with these classes.

Paladin

Although Bard is a fairly hard class to play, Paladin is even harder since it involves having to place more telegraphs in certain areas.

Understanding the mechanics: where your player is positioned, where they need to go, catching the opposition, are all difficult tasks that you’ll need to navigate well. As part of the Warrior profession, your player will be heavy (more so than with the Berserker which is easier). 

You’ll be standing idle more than with other classes like Berserker or Bard as a support. You have to be smart here when using your cooldowns as you’ll want to make sure you don’t waste them when you don’t need them. Save your HP for the right times. 

With Paladin, you can’t allow your player to make any mistakes if you want them to succeed. To stay at the top level and gain the best experience while playing Lost Ark with this class, make sure your player has more pots and gold to use rather than spending them all. Always remains a team player too.

Gunlancer

The Gunlancer is part of the tank class. These classes are typically more difficult to play as they require a greater level of responsibility. While the class is simple in understanding the available actions, the Warlord needs a quicker reaction time and excellent decision making ability to perform well.

As well as support, there are high expectations for the Gunlancer to harm opponents. This added pressure makes the game ever more challenging.

Taunting the opposition to protect your team is also needed, making the tasks involved more various and difficult than with the Holy Knight or Bard class. One downside though is that it can’t use telegraphs like the Holy Knight can.

Still when you’re confident that you understand and have control over all the defensive means available to the Gunlancer, you must master how to cause damage to succeed.

You can only move back while other classes can charge towards their opponents, making it harder when playing this one. So learning DPS will come in very helpful here.

There are plenty of endgame activities for you to enjoy and take advantage of, and here we’ll provide you with 25 of them to ensure you make the most of your playing experience.

Use this as your guide and understand everything you need to know about what you can do when reaching Level 50 and getting closer to the end. All of the activities will be set out here in order of how you’ll progress as you work through Level 50.

Gear Honing

To obtain more content, you’ll have to increase your gear which you’ll be able to do through Gear Honing. You’ll use materials you’ve gained by completing Chaos Dungeons to build your armor and weapons, increasing their base stats and power.

You can improve every bit of gear you have up to 20 times, boosting your item level to unlock more level 50 activities.

Chaos Dungeons

You’ll enter a small port area, where you’ll arrive by yourself or a team of up to four players. Waves and minions will start to attack you. Your goal here is easy to follow: kill your opponents until the gauge in the top left hand of your screen below “Echo Level 1” maxes out at 100%. Then, there will be no more fighting for this stage, and you’ll receive your rewards for the kills you’ve made.

Make it through the portal that will take you to a new area where you’ll face new opponents while wiping out the Chaos Dungeon.

By finishing two Chaos Dungeons every day you play, you’ll be able to receive the most rewards available to you. However, while you won’t be rewarded for finishing more, you can get some tokens which can then be used for exchange.

Guardian Raids

Also, you’ll be able to take part in Guardian Raids when reaching Level 50 in Lost Ark. Placed on a small area; you’ll track a guardian using a flare. You can bring your flare and carry out this activity by yourself or with a team of up to four, just like with Chaos Dungeons.

Your goal is to defeat the guardian, taking its soul before the time is up. Battles like these make playing this level fun and allow players to gain their first Boss experience upon reaching the endgame. 

Guardian Raids differs from Chaos Dungeons in that you’ll need to be more aware of one-shot mechanics that can kill you. This allows for a different playing experience to be enjoyed while you move from one activity to the other.

However, like Chaos Dungeons, to make sure you get all the rewards possible, you can complete this section up to two times every day, and beyond this, you’ll receive tokens that you can exchange. So they’re also similar in some ways.

Understanding the Rest Gauge

If you fail to complete the Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids twice per day, you can add stacks to your Rest Gauge. Every time you fail to complete a section, your meter will increase by 10 rest.

Double loot will be sent your way if you attempt to complete either a Chaos Dungeon or Guardian Raid again while gaining 20 rest. You can gain up to 100 rest altogether, for which you’ll receive double loot five times.

Abyss Dungeons

Abyss Dungeons is where you’ll meet trash mobs in Lost Ark and two bosses to fight against. You’ll want to make your way through this system as a team, as it will be too difficult to succeed alone. Bard and Paladin are two supportive classes that will be great as part of your team. 

While most Abyss Dungeons will be ones that will already be familiar to you from the earlier part of the game, in the endgame, the difficulty level becomes much harder. Mobs can strike better, and bosses will have advanced skills and tactics against you.

You can complete this section once each week, for which you’ll receive items that will help you with certain tiers as a reward, such as gold and certain materials.

Lost Ark Raids

Since Tier 2 has been brought to Lost Ark Raids, they’ve become an important component of the endgame. These involve putting eight players up against very skilled bosses, so amazing control is needed for success in a very difficult part of the game.

Una’s Tasks

To move forward with PVE, you need to obtain the right assets that will enable you to acquire better gear. Una’s Tasks will involve completing tasks each day and week that help you move through Arkesia. These tasks aren’t particularly hard, but you’ll still be rewarded for them.

The number of tasks you’ll be able to carry out will limit them, and not all of them will be that beneficial for helping you progress through the game onto the next stages. So it might be best to choose the ones that will help you move forward as you play.

Tokens will be provided to you when you complete this section which you can exchange for a chest of gold. These chests can allow you to receive gold bars that will then become more gold, but this feature doesn’t always happen and may only be something you benefit from on rare occasions.

Cube Dungeons

With Cube Dungeons, you’ll only be able to enter them when you receive a ticket that allows you. When you make it in, your task will be to fight to stay inside for as long as possible. Make it through as many rooms as possible before finding the loot.

The goal here is to move your cube chest from bronze to diamond. You’ll want to make the upgrade as diamond cube chests will give you better loot and items contained that will help you succeed in the endgame. 

Trial Paths

Like with Cube Dungeons in level 50, you’ll also need a ticket for entry into Trial Paths. These involve dungeons controlled by bosses who you’ll have to attack and kill as quickly as possible. Obtain your ticket by completing Chaos Dungeons successfully.

Through Trial Paths, you can extend your skill-set and be rewarded with bonuses like fewer cooldowns and greater damage. This starts with skill gems that you can then use to hone your skills, an important aspect of playing any Lost Ark section. 

Towers

Towers is an endgame section that you’ll complete by yourself. Different tasks are available on different tower floors and require you to use your various skills such as avoidance, boss damage, burst DPS and problem-solving.

By completing each floor, you’ll receive rewards for all of them individually, like skills, materials, and skill potions that will be beneficial for improving your skill points across the board. As you complete floors and move on to the next, the tasks become more difficult.

Collectibles

While Collectibles aren’t the most popular of all endgame activities when playing Lost Ark, they are an important part of the game. All Collectibles allow you to exchange your rewards for loot at whatever particular DPC system you’re playing in. 

Island Tokens

Receive Island Tokens for completing activities required on the islands in the seas of Arkesia. Each island is available at different times, where specific quests fall in line with other items within the game.

The Special Rolling Calendar will allow you to monitor whether or not an island is available when you make it to level 50.

Giant’s Hearts

Obtain hearts by completing specific tasks, such as different floors and rapport rewards when playing Towers. Three skill point potions are available here, which you can pick up by trading in hearts. 

Masterpieces

Masterpieces are expensive and are a collectible that is difficult to obtain. You can gain some by completing tasks that are part of your adventure tome. Kill top-level NPCs, collect special items, and complete Tower floors to further develop your adventure tome and pick up rewards.

There are 60 Masterpieces in total, and rewards include legend cards and treasure chests that return you gold.

Mokoko Seeds

Found in many areas across the globe and on many map areas are Mokoko Seeds. They’re usually sitting behind doors, lying on the ground, or hidden in the grass. They take long to find, but the payoff in rewards is pretty good.

You can gain many items by exchanging your seeds for them when playing in the NPC. These include new team members, skill point potions, and masterpieces.

World Tree Leaves

Use life skills to receive World Tree Leaves when working your way through the endgame. Completely weekly tasks, and you’ll be on your way to receiving rewards. These rewards will then help improve your life skills.

Ignea’s Tokens

When you finish every task available in the adventure tome, you’re given an Ignea’s Token. You can exchange these tokens for better skill potions, a Golden Terpion Mount, and other useful items to help you succeed in the endgame, like a Bifrost Key.

Sea Bounties

Sea Bounties are the last collectibles in the game and can be obtained by completing adventure tome tasks, hitting a particular rapport level with NCPs, and giving in tokens. 

Turn in your Sea Bounties for new team members to be added to your team and treasure chests that can be exchanged for silver.

Chaos Gates

Chaos Gates are available four times each week and act as portals. Your task will be to locate the commander of the portal and kill them as quickly as you can.

When you complete one of these levels, you’ll be handed a treasure map depending on where you are on the map. The map will take you to a treasure dungeon that four players can pass into and greatly increase your chances of rewards.

Ghost Ships

You can find Ghost Ships within danger zones located in Arkesia. If hazards destroy your ship, you’ll be unable to gain access to the Ghost Ship. 

Your goal here is to kill the enemies on the ship, including a boss. This will allow you to receive a special item to upgrade your gear and improve your likelihood of success in the endgame. Complete them once a week to benefit and take advantage of rewards that you’re more likely to achieve with help from your team.

Field Bosses

Major fights with bosses can see any player get involved. They generally come along with other enemies, so help will be beneficial if you want to make sure you can beat them.

Accessories, materials, island tokens, and other items can be picked up as rewards for defeating the bosses.

Adventure Islands

Beat the time to complete the Adventure Islands activity when playing Level 50 of Lost Ark. All islands offer different playing options, depending on whether you’re playing in PVP or PVE mode.

Make sure to choose the island that best suits your skills and will pay you with rewards that you’d like to achieve.

Rewards include gold, silver, card packs, and island tokens.

Lifeskills/Stronghold

Unlocking Stronghold fits well with the lifeskill systems you can gain at Lakebar. The stronghold is more like a mobile game, where you build it over time.

Progressing your Stronghold opens the door for HP potions, grenades, and specific items needed for Tier 2 and Tier 3 play.

Cards

Six cards make up a deck and, when combined correctly, can be used to improve your stats. Editions of cards include rare, epic, legendary, and uncommon. The rarer the deck of cards, the better you can expect your stats to improve.

Skill Runes

There are 12 Skill Runes in total, which you can obtain as often due to how well you hone RNG. 

You can exchange collectibles for obtaining Skill Runes, and occasionally bosses will leave them behind from Guardian Raids. If possible, you’ll want to use some Skill Runes since they can help build your player’s abilities and improve your chances of endgame success.

Keep in mind that each piece of equipment limits how many engravings it can hold; you can only put so many runes into one weapon or piece of armor before it’s full.

Engravings In Lost Ark

These are essentially item enhancements that can be applied to equipment in your inventory. Each piece of equipment has several slots (number may vary by item and rarity) that you can use to apply these “engraved” effects. Once applied, they are permanent and cannot be removed unless you destroy the item (using an Alkahest).

The effect from these engravings is powerful enough that a single high-end engraving can replace an entire piece of gear for some players (usually as a stopgap solution). Do note that only two weapons can have this bonus at one time (main and sub-weapon).

How Do You Use Engravings in Lost Ark?

In the Lost Ark game, players can apply a wide variety of Engravings to weapons and accessories. Two different engravings can be used depending on the item in question.

The process for applying these enchantments is relatively simple:

• First, you need to acquire a weapon or accessory with an empty enchantment slot (indicated by an open spot at the top of the enchantment box).
• Then go to your inventory and click on the “Engrave” tab in your bag. This will bring up all possible engravings for that item class: weapon or accessory. Select which one suits your needs most and put it into play before pressing confirm if you’re sure about this decision! Now repeat steps 1-3 until every slot is filled out with its respective enchantment!

Best Engravings In Lost Ark

If you’re a player of Lost Ark, you should know that engraving is one of the most essential features in the game. You can apply engravings to your gear, and they work similarly to runes or glyphs in other games. They provide different types of stat bonuses and other extra effects.

Before we get into how to acquire the best engravings, let’s discuss just what an engraving is and how it works in Lost Ark. An engraving is a decorative pattern embedded directly into your equipment and armor pieces. There are six different slots for engravings on each item, and every slot can hold up to five stars (though this varies).

Grudge

Grudge is an Engraving that is available to all classes.

It increases your character’s damage by a percentage and only applies to the main weapon.

The higher the level, the more damage it provides, but once you reach Level 20, there will be no more increments until you level up your Engraving.

The maximum stat for Grudge is +10% Damage.

Cursed Doll

To be clear, the Cursed Doll is not an engraving that you can use on its own. Rather, it can be combined with others to maximize your critical damage. It’s weak compared to other options on this list, but it still has a place in your arsenal.

You will need to have at least 500 points of base critical damage for this engraving to be effective. If you have that much-or more-then go ahead and add the Cursed Doll engraving to your character!

Keen Blunt Weapon

The Keen Blunt Weapon engraving increases the Attack Power of blunt weapons by 10%. This effect stacks with other effects that increase the Attack Power of blunt weapons.

For example, the Burnished Iron Club weapon has this characteristic: increases the Attack Power of blunt weapons by 15%. Combined with the Keen Blunt Weapon engraving, you get a 25% increase in attack power with a blunt weapon. This is one of the most popular engravings in the game.

Raid Captain

Making up 20% of the total engravings in the game, Raid Captain is one of the most popular in Lost Ark. As you can probably guess from its name, this powerful engraving is only available to players who lead a raid team and as a result, it provides a large damage buff to all party members by 20%.

Raid Captain is also one of the most difficult engravings to acquire. It can be obtained as a rare drop from bosses in the game or purchased from other players for an enormous sum.

If you are lucky enough to find it though, this engraving will significantly boost your DPS and make it easier for your raid group to defeat whatever challenge lies before them.

However, several other alternate options provide similar bonuses, and some may even be more effective depending on which stage of raiding you’re doing!

Awakening

The Awakening engraving is the most sought after in all of Lost Ark and for good reason. This engraving gives a flat increase to your weapon’s base attack power, meaning you get more bang for your buck than with any other engraving.

It also has the highest chance of appearing on the rarest items in Lost Ark, making it the most powerful engraving in the game.

Barricade

The Barricade Engraving is popular because of its boosting properties. This buff will boost all sorts of stats, including damage, defense, vitality, and mana. It boosts stamina, attack speed, movement speed, critical rate, and critical damage and evasion.

Master Of Ambush

One of the most sought-after engravings in Lost Ark is Master Of Ambush. It’s a rare grade IV engraving that should be taken into consideration by anyone using a scythe or sword, especially for PvP oriented builds.

While there are many other useful options to explore, a mastery of ambush is certainly one option you should keep in mind when moving forward with your character’s development.

Spirit Absorption

Players using many skills will find the Spirit Absorption engraving a great addition to their character.

This engraving increases the maximum spirit a character has and allows them to use more skills, enabling them to deal more damage and use more defensive skills.

This guide will go through the things you need to do to be able to upgrade your Alt characters faster. Firstly, you can’t do the Islands once again on a second character; this will result in you having significantly fewer materials to work with. There is one important piece of research you can do in your Estate that will make leveling alts significantly easier, and this is how it works.

Estate Research 

First, you have to go the Estate. Teleport there by using your Song Of Hearth And Home. Once your character reaches 802 gear score or 1302 gear score, new research will be available in your Estate. Scroll down the Roster Help section of your research in the lab; there will be a section at the bottom that says either “Increase Honing Success Rate” or “Reduce Required XP For Tier One Honing.” 

Both of these should be researched before you upgrade your gear on your alts because the first one increases the success rate of your honing by 20%, which is a very significant amount. 

On top of that, the reduced required experience makes it so that you need less Harmony Shards to make the gear upgrade available. With both in mind, you can upgrade way faster, and way more efficiently. But first, you need a character already at the next stage of content. So essentially, you first need to get a character into tier 2, which is 802 gear score.

You can then upgrade these things or research these things in your Estate. The same goes for Tier 2 and Tier 3 later on as well. That means that once your character is then at 1302 gear score. You can then do the increased tier 2 honing success rate and the reduced experience requirement. You can keep doing this at further stages. If you want to swap main characters, make sure to have a character at least 802 items score so you can unlock these items for your potential new main character., 

Fantasm Island For T1 Materials 

This place is a 600 required item level map, making it a tier 2 island, but the materials you can get there are tier one materials. These items are tradeable despite having the untradeable description written on them. 

You then go to your pet and open storage; once you’ve done Fantasm Island on your tier 2 character and you want to transfer those materials to your old character, make sure that you don’t open the boxes. You just put them into the Roster Storage, which will boost one of your character’s materials a little bit because although these boxes say that you can’t trade them, you can trade them. 

Alts in this game are very complicated because of the lack of access to Islands, but if you have these research upgrades, upgrading alts will become a breeze.

Engravings 

If you think about it, all multiplicative engravings are conditional except Grudge. Cursed Doll, Grudge, and Keem Blunt Weapon are the most used engravings. We also have damage engravings such as Master Of Strike, Super Charge, and All-out Attack. 

All-out attack needs to be a casting skill. For example, Supercharge, needs to be a charged skill. You need to be shielded for Barricade. So if all your main skills are charged skills like Red Gunlancer or Remaining Energy Deathblade, Supercharge is better than Grudge because it increases damage by 20%. As for Barricade, Scouter isn’t out, bet when he transforms, he gets shielded, so Barricade may be better than something like Grudge for him, even if it’s a 4% damage difference. 

This engraving is good for new Sorceresses because of her DPS skills. This is the same for Blue Gun Lancer because he is shielded most of the time. All-Out Attack isn’t as efficient because Sorcerers only have 3 main DPS skills, but you need it on all of the casting mages due to the casting speed buff. 

Every single engraving has some penalty, so the engraving choice has always been one or the other, but it gets complicated once you get more than two or three engravings. There aren’t many choices other than Cursed Stall, Grudge, and Sharp Blunt. You’ll have to use these engravings eventually. As for Cursed Stall, since your max hp cap is 25%, it is also a no penalty engraving for a 16 percent additive damage increase.

Therefore Grudge and Cursed Stall are unconditional damage multipliers. This is why people are recommending Grudge and Cursed Stall. The only penalty is you getting hit harder. Something that you can fix while you’re playing the game. As characters progress into the later game, you will have to equip Grudge due to having no other options, but you need to increase your DPS. Do not follow recommendations blindly; figure out what you are most comfortable with and work on those first. If you plan on having 3 level 3s, Grudge is the most efficient damage increase for most classes. A support’s role is to apply shield and damage buffs. Their actual DPS ratio is less than 10 percent of the entire raid. 

Therefore, you focus on survivability. Bard has the lowest vitality factor among the support classes. What is a vitality factor? It is the hp multiplied by the defense factor. The higher the hp factor, the more hp you will have; the higher the defense factor, the higher the defense. 

In conclusion, you should use Grudge if your playstyle favors dealing massive amounts of damage while sacrificing defense. This is also good for party setups where multiple support roles can help mitigate the penalties through their various hp and defense buffs.

Once you pick up your character, talk to Beatrice and jump through the portal. After the cutscene, you will get off the boat, and it will give you the option to continue or skip the prologue. Once you skip it, you will get to level 10 and get the mount and a pet early on. You will save about 25 minutes of the game time if you skip. 

Equip Your Pet and Use Your Mount

If you have bought the founders pack, you can hit “alt P” to bring up the pet menu to equip it right away. The mount is very important since it gives you the mobility to move around, and the pet picks up gear, gold, and materials for you. It is more efficient to have this pet than clicking G to pick up items.

Mount and Pet Quest

The mount is tied to the main story quest so you cannot miss it. The pet quest is the purple quest. At level 14 you will see this pop-up and go to the first town to meet Lucy and the quest for your little rabbit pet.

If you don’t see the quest, click advent the quest journal and a purple quest will show up on your left side. These are called legacy quests. Legacy quests are meant for the whole account, so you only need to do this once.

The Main Story Questline and Leveling Tips

We are going to level the fastest by simply powering through the main story questline.

Grab and Use Waypoints/Triports

The main quest starts as orange and eventually turns blue once you get your ship.

Only focus on these two and ignore any other colors for max leveling efficiency. Always use the triports to travel around the map because it will save a lot of time and be much faster. 

Overlay Map

You can use your overlay map and push alt and left click to teleport directly from the map instead of bringing up the normal map by pressing M. Don’t mind the silver cost, just teleport everywhere if you want to be as efficient as possible.

Teleport Out From Dungeons

If you are in a dungeon or instance, you can just teleport out by clicking F2 and bringing out the song list. You can click any song you need or drag it to your Hotbar and it will teleport you out of the zone, so you do not need to pay for the teleport.

If you are lost, just click the diamond shape below to bring out the map to highlight the place you need to go. 

Dismantle Loot

If you have a lot of loot, it is easy to get rid of it. You can dismantle it in the field, sell the dust, and make more money. Some leveling gear gives junk dust and other small pieces sell to the vendor. 

Open up the dismantle menu and click one by one whatever you want to throw away, or you can click all instantly while running in the field or the middle of a boss fight. 

Swapping Channels

If the channel you are in is crowded and you find it difficult to finish the quests, you can simply go to the top right of the screen and change the channel to a less crowded one.

Interacting With NPCs and Mount Ability

Every mount has different abilities and you need to always use dash on cooldown to make sure you are moving faster. When talking to an NPC, it is always faster to click the G key than clicking the character itself. 

When you are at the NPC screen there is no need to spam the G key again. Rather you can use the left click to spam and accept it faster. Many cutscenes cannot be skipped, but some can so pay attention and skip it. Unless you want to follow the story.

Inventory and Potions

You will get a lot of potions while leveling. A region potion gives you health over a certain amount of seconds like 900 health in 8 seconds or 1592 health in 8 seconds. 

So use it because it is not worth it to die and run back from the start.

Save the % recovery potions, there are used for raids potions, keep them for later use. 

Classes categorize how your character will play in Lost Ark.

Warrior: First is the Warrior, which utilizes a melee combat style often with swords and shields.

Mage: Mage uses spells and magic to defeat enemies.

Gunner: The Gunners attack in range and use guns or bows to attack instead of magic.

Assassins: Assassins attack in melee but use dark force and sometimes stealth to defeat the enemy and are often more glass cannon.

Martial Artists: The Martial Artists use their fists to fight, more like a bruiser or a fighter class. They are considered one of the best damage dealers because of their agility and mobility.

Each subclass has its skillset to choose according to the playstyle you want. But today, let us focus on Martial Artists and narrow down the best subclass for you.

Martial Artist Subclass: Who to Choose?

Martial Artist are commonly used by players who want to face the enemies head-on as they use their fists to attack and eliminate enemies. Their capability to attack constantly while dealing enormous damage makes them a perfect DPS main.

Aside from this, they also have good reflexes, making them viable in creating good combos. Learning how to play Martial Artist is easy. However, choosing the perfect subclass for you is a different question. Let’s hop right into understanding the different skill sets of the subclasses of a Martial Artist.

Martial Artist – Striker

Striker is modeled as the most common damage dealer that you can use. When you become a striker, you attack like a solid and abrupt gust of wind, dealing physical damage to the enemies. Since Strikers deal an intense amount of physical damage, once it strikes, the enemies are thrown in the area, which allows you to perform aerial combos that can deal multiple damages.

The striker has five skills like the True Heavenly Awakening and the Swift Wind Kick. If you are an early player, we advise focusing on the skills Tiger Emerges (LVL 14), Moon Flash Kick (LVL 10), and Storm Dragon Awakening (LVL 12). These skills are enough for you to utilize Striker.

Striker’s special ability is the Esoteric Orbs, and what it does is charges orbs that can make your basic skills more powerful and cause more damage. Some of the skills we mentioned rely on Esoteric Orb to recharge, and they are perfect for throwing the enemies out in the air.

Martial Artist – Wardancer

Looking at the skillset of Wardancer, it is kind of similar to the Striker. However, Wardancers combine their attacks with huge elemental power, making them powerful damage dealers. They also attack fast, making the enemies get thrown in the air. They equip gauntlets that can do devastating damage, and with enough practice, you can even deal multiple aerial combos with it. Wardancer is most viable when you want to deal with enemies as close as possible. However, be careful on facing the enemies head-on because Wardancer has low defense.

Wardancer has five skills like the Advent of the Phoenix and Fist of Dominance. Focus on Flash Heat Fang (Level 10) and Lightning Kick (Level 10) when starting. Both skills can cause massive damage by performing multiple combo attacks.

Their special ability is also Esoteric Orbs. They accumulate orbs to make their damage stronger, and you have to collect as many orbs as you can to deal more damage.

Martial Artist – Scrapper

Next is Scrapper, the one who equips a massive and heavy gauntlet that takes out the enemy relatively. Scrapper has an interesting kit because instead of managing your mana to use its skills, you have to manage its special ability since it has two separate energy bars. If the first two are known for their agility, Scrapper is known for its mobility. The Scrapper is tanky to compensate for the lack of agility.

The skills of Scrapper are also destructive like Mysterious Art: Blast of Ruination and Undefeated Dragon King. You can focus on Chain Destruction Fist (Level 20), Death Sentence (Level 14), and Crushing Smite (Level 10) if you are starting.

Scrapper’s special ability is the Energy Meter, which is the one we mentioned where it has two bars: yellow and green. You have to keep these bars up to use the skills according to the color of the skill. To charge this bar, you have to keep using both green and yellow energy to recharge each other.

Martial Artist – Soulfist

Finally, there is Soulfist. Calling Soulfist unique is an understatement because of their unique playstyle. Soulfist can be melee and range because they equip a gauntlet and a bow. In playing them, it is advisable to make close attacks first before backing up and making a couple of normal range attacks on the enemies.

One of their skills is Annihilating Ray and Deadly Finger. For the early game, you can focus on Deadly Finger (Level 10), Pulverizing Palm (Level 10), and Heavenly Squash (Level 14). Those skills are enough to utilize their skill set.

And then finally, the Soulfist’s special ability is the Hype Meter. As the name suggests, it offers a different level of Hype (from level one to three). Once you reach a higher level, your attacks will become stronger and faster. Remember to utilize the hype level of Soulfist because the higher the level is, the faster you ran out of their hype level.

Now that you know the basics of Martial Artist, it is time to choose the best advance or subclass for you. Remember, make sure to select the best according to your playstyle and enjoy the game.

This one goes into the S tier. It is ranked between tanky and squishy, so it’s a balanced class and good to use to level up in solo mode. It has a very good toolkit in PVP, super armors, and lingering skills. It is also beginner-friendly and has a lot of mobility, making it a very good jewelling class. It does have long cooldowns but is not very significant.

Shadowhunter

This one goes into the A tier. A very flashy class that can transform into a demon. It is also a hybrid class that utilizes both ranged and melee with quick burst damage, and it has a very good range distance. This class also can suit well in parties. It is a very positional dependant class and does not have a lot of super armors. However, when you transform into a demonic state, you are stagger immune which is a really big bonus. You only need to look out for being knocked up or hard CC. This is a solid class and stands in between tanky and squishy.

Artillerist

This one goes into the B tier. This class has one of the strongest combos in the game that can take off about 70% of the character’s health in one combo. But it is not easy in PVP because it is predictable. You can start your Gatling gun skills trying to stagger enemy rolling in and doing your new combo.

You can counter this by holding down the auto-attack and getting away, and therefore stopping the combo. You might struggle with ranged characters even though it is quite good at anti-melee. But it can be outplayed quite easily. It stands in the middle of tankiness but having two on-demand skills, one in normal form and the other in turret mode, you can still survive a little bit.

Deadeye

This one goes into the A tier. It is very complicated and has some fantastic kits, but because of the weapon swap, that makes it very hard to play.

You’ve got a good range on your sniper rifle skills and an amazing combo going in close and also using your shotgun. Mastering this class takes a lot of time and a good muscle memory, but once you have done it, you will have an amazing result. The outplay potential is massive, but it is one of the squishiest classes in the game.

Gunslinger

This one goes into the S tier. She has an extra mobility skill that is fantastic for getting catches and has a better sniper rifle skill with her zero rays. The ultimate Bombard hits very fast by firing one big instant bullet and has a good AOE size.

She has extremely high mobility, great potential damage, and outplay potential. She also has good range with a sniper and can go in close with her pistol and shotguns. One of the hard classes to play but one of the best classes to climb solo, but she is a little bit squishy.

Sharpshooter

This one goes into the B tier. This class has invisibility, and early in the game, this will help very much because people will not realize you are there and get caught in surprise, but they do have long cooldowns on their major skills and crit dependant.

If you land crit damage on your sniper skill, you will do lots of damage. Invisibility in higher ranks is not very useful because it will become a novelty. Even without invisibility, you still inflict a lot of damage. The class doesn’t feel massively fluid, and the mobility is slightly clunky. The class has great CC damage with its claymore skill, but people will avoid it in higher skill. This is not much of a tanky class, so you will die if you get caught.

Bard

This one goes into the S tier. Bard is a game-changer with its shields, damage reduction, CC immunity, and all the utility this class brings to a party is incredible.

It also has super armors, CC skills, and a single skill with tons of damage. Its ultimate will bring a huge shield to the entire party, and this is the squishiest class in the game. But all the shield and utility it has makes it quite tanky. With its shield and CC immunity, this is a class you will need in your party.

Sorceress

This one goes into the A tier. This one played as a summoner before changing its title. This is a truly ranged character and acts more of the team enabler. You can make some good damage combos yourself but the catchers can set up your team. Using your field of vision and blind spots correctly you can play this character safely.

She also has some good self-heal like reverse gravity but if this gets baited out she can easily be damaged by melee characters. She has no super armors and is quite a squishy class. Once you build your gauge, you will have some teleports that can be used twice when it is full, so her mobility is very good.

Scrapper

This one goes into the B tier. This character needs to work very hard to get off his damage. Most of the time, you need to knock enemies down, track them back again after they roll, and then knock them down again to be able to get off your burst window. But this is the third tankiest class on the whole game. It has good mobility and super armors. Its kit makes it a good jeweler, but you can be easily interrupted when using your skills. Not a very good character for PVP.

Soulfist

This one goes into the S tier. She has great mobility, great range, and defensive buss, giving you a good place in a team. Her mobility is very good with a triple dash, and she has a very good ranged hard CC skill. Her burst damage is outstanding when she is in her third power-up form. Her iniquity discharge gives the team a great defensive buff to be pseudo support in PVP. She is in between tanky and squishy, but she can be a bit tanky with her defensive team ability.

Striker

This one goes into the C tier. It does not have super armors and still needs to charge up two of the identity orbs to use it. It is a mobile class, but its hitbox and AOE are quite small. You need to have precise timing, or you will get knocked out. It has a fast in and outpace and stands in between tanky and squishy.

Wardancer

This one goes into the B tier. This character brings team utility with a damage reduction buff for herself and the team. She is quite tanky due to her damage reduction buff and can deal a good amount of damage in PVP. She can also buff the team with movement and attack speed, but she doesn’t have super armors and can regularly run into the lack of mana. You can simply jump in and sue combo to deal damage, wait for cooldown, and dot it again.

Berserker

This one goes into the A tier. This class has super great damage but is a bit slow in PVP. They also have high cooldown and mana issues.

But if you manage to get the engages right, you deal some serious damage. It has super armors and is very easy to play with. It has good mobility and is the 4th Tankiest class in this game.

Gunlancer

This one goes into the A tier. A solid class that gives pseudo support by giving them a shield. Its chain hook and bash can be very annoying and disruptive. Heal your team, and interrupting key combos from your enemies will be the main job of this class.

They are slow but with the shield for self and the team and being the tankiest class in the game gave ist advantage. It also has some good damage from its burst cannon.

Paladin

This one goes into the S tier. It has a high amount of burst damage. They also give damage reduction buff and shield to the team. Thye can pop up a shield, and using Luthien’s word on an ally who will be hit by an ultimate can reduce the damage and go in your favor. It is an easy-to-play class but does not have super armors. It is a tanky class, but with its damage reduction and shield, it is much tankier.

Some of the classes below are not released in NA and EU regions yet.

Reaper

This one goes into the C tier. This is one of the squishiest classes in the game, and its damage is also low. Its output potential and mobility are very high. If you get caught, you can take too much damage and die. This is not an easy class to climb the solo rank and not very good in PVP.

Scouter

This one goes into the S tier. This is a very difficult class to play because you need to micromanage the drone position and get the best result.

You can play safely with this class because you will always stay behind your drone and create tons of massive damage to enemies. They do lack super armors, but you get full stagger immunity, shield, and range when you go into Iran man mode. They are quite squishy, but the transformation skill will help in those moments.

Arcana

This one goes into the B tier. They do have some really nice catches with some nice big AOE CCs, but it is quite inconsistent with their identity.

You might get the card you want to do massive damage or not get the card and do not make enough damage. It has good mobility and is a bit of a hybrid because its burst window is in the melee range. It is in between tanky and squishy.

Lance master

This one goes into the S tier. This class has very good mobility and a nice AOE for catches. It also has very good damage, a low cooldown, and a lot of skills. They have a nice range and super armors. They also have a counter ability to put up a shield. They are quite tanky too. It might be intimidating for time players with many skills and weapon swaps, but this is one of the complete classes with no flaws.

Destroyer

This one goes into the A tier. This is a very tanky class, especially when you put on your dual pane, which takes about 90% reduced damage for eight seconds. They also have a shield and super armor the entire time. All their skill have super armors.

They are a bit slow, and their AOE a cracked. They have very good mobility, but their wind-up time is slow, making it clunky. This is the number two tankiest class in the game and is a very strong class to play in PVP.

Language Preference

If a player is in the EU servers, there are a variety of different languages that may be used more frequently in different servers. If the player plans on doing lots of group content with a guild, it’s a good idea to make sure that the server they’re on has a good number of people likely to speak the same language as they do. This makes finding people to do content with and form guilds or friend groups easier.

Player Population

Some servers have a higher population than others. This can impact certain gameplay activities and the availability of resources and can be an important consideration depending on what content the player is interested in. However, Lost Ark is perfectly playable on a lower population server. At the same time, this can cause issues in other MMOs dues to lack of resources and players, Lost Ark‘s dungeon finder, arena finder, and cross-server auction house reduce the penalties.

Lost Ark‘s dungeon finder allows players to queue up for group content across servers. This makes it easy to participate in dungeons or Guardian Raids, even on servers with a very low population. As long as players are only interested in clearing content, a lower population might be a great fit for them! For players who prefer PvP, arenas are also cross-server.

The cross-server auction house also helps prevent players from feeling stifled in a lower-population server. Player-tradable materials and items will be easily available to players regardless of whether they are on a high or low population server.

However, there is one major advantage to using a higher population server. The larger player pool makes it easier to form guilds and make friends to clear content with. If a player is interested in forming friendships and doing content with a set group of people, a higher population server might be a better choice for them. If not, then a lower population server might work better. The lower player population will make it far easier to find resources, and while clearing world content might be more challenging sometimes, there’s still the dungeon finder.

PvE vs. PvP

If a player likes PvE more than PvP or vice versa, they should consider this when choosing a server. There are no official designations for which servers are more PvP slanted and more PvE oriented, but there are trends on some. 

Some servers, such as Kadan, are extremely PvP oriented. This is great if the player likes PvP, but if they prefer PvE it might be best to pick a different server, such as Zinnervale.

Picking a server with a strong focus on one aspect of the game can make it difficult for the player to find other people to do their preferred content with.
