Which Server to Choose – Road To 70
Many beginners’ first and foremost mistake is choosing the server based on looks and coolness. Picking the right server for the right task is an efficient game. Another feature of the FFXIV servers is that they have native nationalities; for example, with a wide variety of English servers, you can also find other languages such as German and Spanish.
Considering the points mentioned above is compulsory, yet another important thing is the road to 70 feature. You can get this feature in XP from level 1 to level 70.
Not only does it adds an EXP boost, but you can even avail yourself of 15 days of game time after crossing level 30. As a bonus, you get 10 silver Chocobo feathers which you can exchange for gears up to level 50.
Which Classes/Jobs To Pick?
Playing a healer or a tank makes it a lot easier to queue for the dungeons since most players play DPS classes. Shorter queue times increase your efficiency, which is good to consider if you are interested in playing other roles besides DPS it is very beneficial for this reason.
Food Before Anything
As much as we encourage starting the game with a full tummy, the same suggestion goes for the server. FFXIV offers food options that you should try not to avoid; after all, a hungry server with drained energy would be less useful to you.
This food feature is unique enough to be a part of this addicting game; eating food will give you high energy levels for about 30 minutes. On the bright side, it increases all XP by 3%.
You can find many different food options from vendors in the different towns and settlements. Although the server acts just a tiny bit slowly without food, this move will make it level up faster and more efficiently, so it’s better to get food before any quest or new level.
Teleportation via Aetherytes
Mostly at the start of every new level, your walking speed is slow; and the worst part is that you don’t get to choose your mount just then. So walking (or wandering) is the only option you’re left with unless you find the Aetheryte.
Aetherytes are huge floating shards of crystals found at several places only in the locations with aethernet. They are teleporters that increase your speed to the maximum and teleport you from one point to another. You can use them as small subways or public transport to save time and energy for the server.
Using Aetherytes is super simple; just right-click on it, select Aethernet, and left-click where you want to go.
Look Before Leaping
Leveling up the game means adding new skills to your server’s library, but experimenting with them right after unlocking them is not the best move. When you unlock a new skill or win it, you get a skills taskbar popped up in front of you; most players ignore it but what they’re missing out are the skill combos and keys to use them.
Due to this hurry, players usually don’t benefit much from their skills taskbar. If you’ve done the same mistake, fret not; you can recover that description by going to the ‘Actions and Traits’ column of the ‘Character’ section in your menu bar.
Learn from the NPCs
Constant learning is the key to success in every field, even gaming. FFXIV is a complex game, and since we cannot compress every guideline in a single article, we recommend you to learn from the Hall of Novice.
When you reach level 50, you will find an NPC named ‘The Smith’ in your surrounding areas, most commonly near the end. The NPC (non-player character) is a computerized character built-in in the game, used to guide the players.
The Smith puts you through trials and exercises that increase your experience in fighting against high-end opponents. Once you’ve passed all the trials, the Smith will put you at a duel against his final and the hardest creature as a final test. If you win the duel, you will be rewarded a boost of 30% in all the upcoming XP games up to level 30.
