Black Desert

Black Desert What Is The Best City?

Introduction

Today we will look at some of the best locations in the black desert game to set up your home base. The best cities to build your character around are mainly based on what you want to do. This is a very important topic as it can make your progress in this game easier.

Velia

Velia is an awesome city to get started in. So if you are starting, Velia gives you easy access to some cooking locations. Some locations are where you can gather resources to cook beer and power up your cooking early on, and it also has access to one of the best AFK fishing spots in the game, located on the Velia beach.

As this city has beaches, it also has coastal access. This will be useful when you are later bartering with the ability to access all the other islands in the game. Velia is also good for Vell. This city also has most of the NPCs you need in this game. It also has a marketplace, storage keeper, blacksmiths, various vendors, stable keepers, wharf manager and other things you need.

This city is one of the central cities in the game, not entirely, but relatively. One of the downfalls of this city is it does not have much housing available, so you cannot max out your storage, and not entirely a good place if you want to post up here for a long period.

Heidel

Heidel is your solution if you want a more centralized city location. Located 1400 units to the south, this city is more centralized than Velia. Heidel has all that extra storage we severely lacked over in Velia.

There are tons of houses that you can pick up to expand your storage. You can store all the goods you pick up from your nodes, on your journey farming, or wherever you are in the game.

As this city is the most centralized game, you have about equal distance from any corner of the map. It also has the same type of NPCs as in Velia. It has storage keepers, merchants, stable keepers, different types of vendors, and everything you need to be in a city for a long time.

It also has a wharf, but the issue is it seems you cannot get your boat out of the city since bridges block both entrances. Overall, Heidel is a solid city with everything you need including access to other places.

Calpheon

Calpheon is very massive and one of the largest cities in this game. If you are looking for a place to max out your storage and able to dump all the things you collected, then this is the best place for you.

The downside of this city is that it is not centralized. This makes access to other cities very difficult, and when you do other things in other parts of the game, it will take time and is not a very good approach. It does have a good amount of storage space and amenities. It has all types of workshops, houses for storage, and pretty much anything you need.

One interesting feature of this city is its access to unique vendors and merchants. One example is Milano Belucci which allows you to purchase different items that you need to power level cooking.

You would be interested in hanging out over here if you want to level up your cooking skill by making pickled vegetables. Through this, you can make some money and progress more quickly. It also has some furniture and unique vendors, and this place is recommended if you want to progress quicker in this black desert game.

Port Epheria

To the northwest of Calpheon is the port of Epheria. This is the city you will need to make as a base if you are more into being a barterer. As a barterer, this might not be your main city, but you will be in this city a lot of the time.

You can have a lot of storage space that will aid you in the barter of the goods around the islands located just outside of the port. It also has the highest-tier boat workshop in the game, allowing you to build boats and equipment for that particular boat.

This feature you cannot get in any other city in this game. The recommended city for barterers. Other cities that are important for barterers are

  • Ilya island – easy access to storage and barter system
  • Lima island – Midway point and also to dump your storage
  • Andado Inner harbor – For the final barter leg and hack into the ocean

Valencia

This city has access to rare nodes and has a vast place to grind in the desert. You can hunt desert mobs here and different nodes that spawn here, like Titanium and Vanadium, for crafting.

One of the main reasons for making this city a base is the desert trade buff for artisans. This buff will give you more money for your bartering. So this is the ideal place if you are more on bartering life skills.

Duvencrune

It is located to the south and away from everything else in the game except for the dragon mobs. If you want to farm in Sherkhans Necropolis, blood wolf settlements, or Tshira ruins, then this is the place to be.

You can use a storage butler to send your items to that city. Players here also will have a few investments in this city for storage expansions.

This is also the best city for horse breeding due to the availability of a straight line in the middle of the city, which you can use to afk train your horse. There are also tier-five wild horses that will spawn right out of the city. Another reason for this city is the hot spring for water gathering, which is way faster here.

Grana

This is a good place to hunt for the different Kama Sylvia region mobs. This city is close to one of the best hunting spots in the game.

You can use your storage butler to send everything. You can also have the ability to build a four-story mansion. This is the place to be if you are into house building or decorating.

Odraxxia

A new place has been added to the game. It does not have too much housing but has the only location where you can craft the master match lock in the game. It has a good contribution point farm place – a good place for hunters and hunting activities.

Conclusion

This is just a general overview of each city and not a recommendation for the best. It depends on what you are doing and what you need. Based on that, each city has its advantage and downfall. So choose wisely.
