Black Spirit and Enhancing System

What to do when you are first starting out in BDO? When first entering Black Desert online you are greeted by a simple tutorial get familiar with the black spirit in the game as you’ll have some useful quest for you in the beginning. I strongly suggest newcomers in this game press o on your keyboard and check out their main quest log.

I would recommend following this quest line on your journey until Level 50. Along your journey in this game, you’re going to find yourself in areas with Mobs that might be easier to combat and giving you a relatively decent experience. As you run into spots like these considered grinding there for a bit to obtain some levels.

Through your adventures, you will come into better gear Silver and other areas to discover, learning how to upgrade your gear, failstacking and understanding the enhancing system is vital for both early and game progression.

Hitting level 50 and Awakening

Continuing throughout your progress, you are going to notice that once you hit Level 49 and get to 99.99%, you can’t hit Level 50. You need to accept a quest given to you by the Black Spirit; he will ask you to summon and kill a monster. Once that monster is dead your progression towards level 50, and Beyond will be available.

Upon reaching level 50, open world PVP then becomes available, but it wouldn’t stress too much over it as the game does have an in-game Karma system to help prevent griefing. Once you hit Level 50 in the game, I suggest setting a new goal to push towards level 56 where you can then unlock your characters Awakening through a quest given to you by the Black Spirit.

Pets and Pearl Shop

Now I would like to take the time to talk a bit about the in-game cash up Black Desert online is a marathon and it is most definitely not a race. If you decide to play this game you will most likely be hit for a long time any player looking to experience the full potential of this game and wants to invest into it should 100% pick up pets from the cash shop. I think that this is the most important thing and the first thing that any player should pick up pets in the game, as they will automatically pick up loot for you. Pets will become essential if you want to get more out of your game.

You can manually loot, but I would highly recommend any player investing time into this game to pick these up. A player can have a maximum of five pets out at a time they become hungry overtime by being left out, and you can level them up from them getting hungry and then feeding them it’s as easy as it sounds.

Knowledge Energy Level and Ecology

You may have noticed that a lot of NPCs with exclamation points above their head? These are people that you haven’t met you will also see that on your minimap, where they will also appear as a silver question mark “?”. It is essential that you talk to these people, you will obtain knowledge which will increase your energy level.

You can also obtain knowledge in energy through discovering the land, killing monsters and more. Energy is an essential use for your progression; it is an excellent early-game tactic for making money and obtaining materials to upgrade your gear. In order to see how you can obtain more knowledge and energy, you can press the H key which gives you details on your knowledge.

In the bottom right corner, you can see which ones you have obtained and haven’t obtained. In my case, I’ve completed people on calpheon among with others. If I want more energy and ecology effect(which gives you a higher drop-rate, up to a 20% increase), I would simply complete the topic, People of Keplan or Valencia, for instance. You can also see I haven’t explored much of the Sea at all.

Life skills and Contribution Points

Gathering is one example for the use of your energy with the plate as you gather so having a lot of energy will help you through longer gathering sessions. There other ways to maximize the usage of energy but I’d like to explain the basics of it. You can see how much energy and contribution points you have in the top left corner of the screen. I have 300 contribution points and 231 energy.

Contribution points are the next experience bar that you see below energy contribution points, in short, are earned through questing and other various tasks in the game such as cooking and farming. Contribution points are used towards building a worker Empire where you can command a worker to gather specific resources at a node. Right now be aware that this is an essential thing to start earning.

How To Increase Weight and Inventory Slots

Now through your travels you’re going to become overweight from time to time and being able to carry more will always help you bring in a higher pay the in-game, the pearl shop offers weight and inventory expanding options which I do recommend.

There are also free ways to increase just as well to train strength. First locate any trade manager in any City, from there you’ll be able to browse what they have for sale. Purchase one of any trade item that they can offer you, once you have completed the sale you will have a backpack of goods on your back, and you will move relatively slowly. From there you can open your map, set a marker and select the auto path option and then hit the T button auto pathing. After that you can use your character to continuously walk in an endless loop, slowly training your strength.

You can also use the auto path feature just to run to increase the level of your breath increasing your stamina and finally to level up your help you can eat food. Eating meals will slowly increase your health level and is crucial to begin working.

In your quest log under the suggested tab, you will notice their inventory expansion Quest; I recommend completing these for a little more added inventory space.

AFK Activities in BDO

One of the things that I would like to stress is that this game is bear AFK friendly if you can leave your computer on, consider getting familiar with the in-game tasks that allow you to make progress even when away.

I strongly suggest leveling up weight and stamina in the beginning and taking the time to find a sweet comfortable spot to fish.

Processing and cooking are two other great forms of semi AFK friendly activities that require a little more attention but are also great ways to help with early progression. Another thing that I would like to encourage is getting a decent horse sooner than later. Black Desert has a large map and sometimes the time it takes to travel can be a difference-maker on how efficient you can be.

Horses

In the beginning, I suggest any tier 5 horse or above will do you just fine for early game. To keep it simple you can purchase a horse from any stable keeper select the stable horse option, then select the horse Market. From there you can see like what tier you’re looking for and the rest will fall into place.

Ecology and Knowledge

These steps are not in any particular order not from least to most important or anything like that however the most crucial thing that you need to do is talk to every single one of the NPC’s that you see. So as you go about your normal adventures and on either PC or Xbox you were going to see all these little question marks on the map there’s an NPC is that you have not yet spoken too.

The way works in Black Desert Online is by speaking to an NPC you gain knowledge about that in NPC, learn a little bit about the world. There’s a knowledge system in this game that tracks all the things that you’ve learned all of the different things that you’ve killed and got knowledge on from various NPCs to finding different areas and quests.

Ultimately what that will do is increase your overall energy in the game so the more NPCs you talk to the more you learn about the world, the higher your energy goes, so that is how you get this right here so energy. Its very important to get this is going to be able to spend it in a myriad different ways you’ll discover, but keep in mind you want to talk to all the NPC’s you see.

Create Alt Characters

Next up you want to make all of your characters pretty much immediately. Whenever you’re logged into your main character, you’re going to get one point of energy every 3 minutes. So this is a renewable resource it’s constant, however, every character that you’re not logged in on all of these will also generate the energy they will produce energy independently of your main character.

Every half an hour that your characters are just existing you get one point of energy, so you don’t want to neglect to make all of your alts right away.

Monster Knowledge

At the start you’re not going to see the health of NPC you’re just going to see yellow bars and are going to see them go orange and red and then eventually they’re going to die here think your game is broken. The way that works is there is a whole bunch of NPC is it throughout the entire world, and until you kill a certain number of them that lets you like understand what they’re doing, you can’t see their health, and it’s quite cool.

They’re all different grades of knowledge their D knowledge, C knowledge, B knowledge, A knowledge and even S knowledge. The better your knowledge, the more ecology points you have and that it’s just a good thing to have, want to make sure that you got that going on and that you’re killing me and he sees as you go through that again will expand your energy.

Questing and Contribution Points In BDO

There are over 10,000 quests in this game; you want for the most part later on in the game do quests to level up, which is kind of interesting. Instead of that, you’ll be grinding mobs to level up. Questing would allow you to contribute to society, this will enable you to get contribution XP. Eventually, you get a contribution point. These Contribution points will allow you to build up your worker empire. Your worker empire allows you to hire workers in a town and have them collect various resources such as ores or trees. These resources can then either be processed further with the processing skill, traded or sold on the marketplace to other players.

You can also actually buy your residences with contribution points. Inside the game, things like residences are instanced, which means that you can have an unlimited amount of people can have the same house.

Which Class To Choose?

Lastly and most importantly I would like to talk about classes as I said earlier Black Desert online is a marathon and you will be spending hours on a character, and I highly suggest taking the time to find one that you enjoy.
